Church History
The church, as the body of Christ, is not limited to our local congregation but spreads throughout all time and space—it is rooted in eternity. Too often Christians assume that nothing of much importance has happened from the time of the Apostles until our present day. Such thinking ignores the wise contributions of many great people of faith, from the Church Fathers, through the Medieval Churchmen, to the Puritan and Reformed writers. This course will survey the church’s successes and failures in carrying out Christ’s Great Commission, the refinement of theology, and the errors that have led to various heresies and cults. Our Christian heritage and practice will be placed in the context of those who have gone before us.
